All of the below sewing workshops are aimed at beginners to intermediates. They also require you to bring along your own sewing machine so you can learn how to sew on your own machine.
1st Tue evening each month:
1hr evening masterclasses on the first Tuesday of every month. 7-8pm £10pp maximum of 6 people with tea & coffee available. These are short sessions where you’ll learn how to:
- 7th March- how to fit a zip. An opportunity to bring along something you’d like a zip adding to or just practice with spare fabric.
- 7th February – help with making a cushion cover. Bring along your cushion, fabric & zip (or buttons) & learn how to make a cushion cover.
3hr half day workshops:
For £35pp (maximum of 6 people) 9:30am – 12:30pm include the following activities (tea and coffee available):
Next date TBC for May 23– Bring along the fabric and measurements you need to make a Roman Blind plus a blind kit which should include the blind cassette, rods & sewing in strips. Its advisable to make sure you measure one of two places.
- The window you want to cover. Length of the window and the drop plus 10cm to each measurement.
- If you want the bring up against the wall (outside the recess of the window), measure the recess length and the drop from the top of the recess to below the windowsill plus 10cm to each measurement.
20th February – Bring along either a pattern of something (clothing) you’d like to make or an item of clothing to learn how to measure and alter to fit you.
29th March – Sewing a fabric trivet for hot pans or kettle. These are stuffed with fire retardant alpaca fibre, sewn & sprayed with fire retardant spray. Great to keep you warm too.
10th April – how to make magnetic Roman blinds. You need to measure your window as described above but the fabric must be light weight for the magnets to hold.
